Frequently Asked Questions

  • Maybe. Payment is due at the time of service if you don’t have insurance. If you do have insurance, and it’s the insurance that I’m covered by, I will bill to your insurance. If you have an insurance that I am not paneled with, I can provide you with a Superbill, which you may choose to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • No, I don’t require that you have a formal referral from your doctor.  However, if you would like to submit the visit to your insurance, they might require that you have a referral prior to being seen. Call your insurance provider to find out if they require a referral.

  • A discovery call is in initial conversation between the client (you!) and the provider (that’s me!) to see if we’re a good fit to work with each other. The purpose of this call is to discover your needs, challenges, and goals while also explaining how my services can help.

  • All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.  Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN) is a licensed designation given to someone who has completed an accredited academic program, 1200 hours of supervised practice, successfully passed a national exam, and maintains registration and continuing education requirements.  Only Registered Dietitian/Nutritionists can provide medical nutrition therapy.

Nutritionists, however, refer to anyone who provides nutrition advice, regardless of their educational background or credentials. Nutritionists may provide general nutrition advice, but may not be qualified to address complex nutritional issues or medical conditions.
